Standard and custom crucibles and other labware can be fabricated on demand and short lead-times. Several material options are available for dense or porous components. The most popular material option is alumina (>99%) in either a hermetically dense structure or a permeable porous structure. Dense and porous versions of stabilized zirconia, SiC, mullite, MgO, and others are also available upon request.
Using alumina crucibles as an example, dense crucibles have more resistance to creep and can be used reliably at high temperatures (up to 1700oC and 1625oC repeatably). Porous versions of alumina crucibles have more resistance to thermal shock with more thermal cycles before failure and longer lifetime, however the suggested maximum operating temperature is 1500oC.
